# One Platform *Expandable Alzheimer's Biomarkers*

Amyloid deposition and Tau phosphorylation can begin 10–20 years before cognitive symptoms emerge. Built on Vazyme's chemiluminescence platform, our solution combines novel biomarkers, cross-species applicability, ultrasensitive detection, and high-throughput testing to deliver reproducible data for AD research.

Why Now

### Pathology Begins Before Symptoms

In Alzheimer's disease, amyloid deposition and Tau phosphorylation can progress for years before cognitive symptoms emerge. The earlier these changes are quantified, the wider the window for intervention.

The Challenge

### Early Signals at Extremely Low Concentrations

Early pathology-related proteins in blood can be present at fg/mL levels. Conventional methods may not detect these low-abundance targets reliably, creating a need for ultrasensitive assays.

The Opportunity

### Fluid Samples: Accessible & Longitudinal

Compared with PET and lumbar puncture, blood sampling is less invasive, more accessible, and generally less costly—making it well suited to large-cohort research screening and longitudinal follow-up.

## Brain-Derived Tau (BD-Tau): A Clearer View of Tau Signals from the Brain

Not all plasma tau comes from the brain. Research shows that roughly 80% of plasma total tau (T-Tau) originates in peripheral tissues with only about 20% being brain-derived. Diluted by peripheral abundance, plasma T-Tau alone gives an unclear picture of neuronal injury and neurodegeneration.

**From Measuring Total Tau to Isolating the Brain-Derived Signal**

Vazyme BD-Tau assays specifically detect brain-derived Tau and phosphorylated brain-derived Tau, helping differentiate the target signal from peripheral Tau within the complex plasma matrix.

p-Tau217 tracks closely with brain tau pathology, making it a high-value blood biomarker for AD research. Yet its extremely low plasma abundance and susceptibility to matrix interference place exceptional demands on assay sensitivity and specificity. Conventional platforms often struggle to reliably detect these faint signals in early AD samples.

**From Detecting Tau Fragments to Specifically Detecting p-Tau217**

With highly specific antibody pairs and an ultrasensitive chemiluminescence platform, the Vazyme p-Tau217 assay specifically recognizes p-Tau217, reduces plasma-matrix interference, and reliably detects low-abundance p-Tau217 in plasma—supporting research into early AD screening, pathological staging, and study evaluation.
